Support Cornerstone Development Project (2019-2022) (Ongoing)
In 2018, a private developer acquired the Financial Plaza building and parking lot on the southwest corner of University Drive and Sample Road and construction is underway for large mixed-use project called Cornerstone. The project is a component of the city’s vision for walkable downtown and will serve as a catalyst for additional redevelopment in the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).

Promote EDO/CRA Grant (Revisit Façade Improvement)
To provide grant programs for businesses to eliminate and prevent the spread of blight and deterioration of properties. This initiative will impact the city by improving the aesthetics, increasing property values and adding to the tax base. As part of the program staff is evaluating the inclusive of demolition as a component of the program.

Host a Small Business Summit
The Small Business Summit and Expo is a two-prong approach to serve the local business community and will be held in May 2026 during Small Business Month/Economic Development Week. The first part of the event will be held in the late afternoon and provide technical assistance from entities such as financial institutions, technology providers, the Small Business Development Center and attorneys. It will also feature guest speakers and roundtable discussions. A small business-focused Bites ‘n’ Sips will be held after the Summit and allow the opportunity for businesses to promote their goods and services. It will feature local food vendors, bands and other entertainment to showcase why Coral Springs is the premier community in which to live, work and raise a family.

Develop Workforce Training
This is an initiative focused on providing additional educational opportunities and training to improve the skills of current employees and prospective job applicants in any industry. The workforce/vocational training would be an expansion of services provided through the Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety. This initiative assists to meet the need within the community for local work force opportunities.
