This is an initiative focused on providing additional educational opportunities and training to improve the skills of current employees and prospective job applicants in any industry. The workforce/vocational training would be an expansion of services provided through the Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety. This initiative assists to meet the need within the community for local work force opportunities.

During the last month, staff have begun working with Human Resources to develop a job description for an Electrician Trainee to support the staffing and cross training needs within the Public Works Department (Facilities Team). The position will soon be posted internally to help management identify individuals who are committed to growing into a full-time Electrician role with the city.

Additionally, multiple meetings have been held with ABC Institute located in Coconut Creek to explore the possibility of partnering with them to provide required classroom instruction for the Electrician Trainee which will be supplemented by on-the-job training from the city. The goal is to identify a trainee who can begin the program at the start of the new school year (August, 2025). Additional information and ongoing progress related to the trainee program will be shared monthly.
