Install City Signage
The entryway and park signs are not consistent in theme or design. The city has a mix of designs that incorporate the new city logo, while others still have the old logo. In addition, there are no interactive signs currently in use in the city allowing for messaging and other important data to be displayed. This program will look to meet the needs of the physical locations in-which signs need to be updated and/or upgraded. Initial projects will include city entryways and replacement of various parks signs.

Create a Communal Gathering in the downtown
As the city realizes our shared vision of a revitalized downtown, it is crucial that the city develops a unique atmosphere by which residents can gather to enjoy downtown amenities. This project seeks to infuse several elements including events, interactive downtown décor, walking paths, and natural gathering areas for reflection and communal enjoyment. The growth and development of the city’s festivals and events has identified a need for a venue. This initiative will serve the community as a social, cultural and educational center for residents and visitors.

Complete Habitat for Humanity Affordable Housing
The City of Coral Springs is working with Habitat for Humanity to develop affordable housing on Riverside Drive. The land previously owned by the city has been conveyed to Habitat for Humanity. Funds from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund were awarded to Habitat for Humanity to subsidize the cost of development and off-set the purchase price for buyers to ensure affordability for low- to moderate-income families.

Enhance Citywide Aesthetics
The Citywide aesthetics initiative will be a multi-year plan to address the concerns and feedback of our community. Following the Visioning Summit, Senior staff and Leadership Development Program participants worked together to begin identifying a draft plan and action items that will continue to improve aesthetics throughout the City. (See attached) Action items identified fall into four main categories, including:
- Neighborhoods
- Corridors
- Public
- Rights-of-way
The plan will require multiple departments working together in a coordinated effort to implement action items. Action items include smaller program such as City staff attending HOA meetings for outreach and educational opportunities to large scale items such as street sign replacement and improving walkability along the City’s corridors.
An Aesthetics Team will be created to help guide and accomplish the plan. Throughout the next several months the Team will further define the plan while starting to implement smaller action items. Gauging feedback and tracking of the progress will be essential to ensure we are responding to our customers and what we are doing is addressing the issues.
