The Royal Palm Boulevard corridor from University Drive to Riverside Drive was identified as a high crash corridor and chosen for the pilot Roadway Safety Analysis (RSA) study by the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The funding opportunity presented by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) allows the city to use federal funding to implement needed changes to preserve the safety and wellbeing of residents. Improvements will be designed in 2023 with construction in 2026/2027.
This initiative was part of budget operations to provide funding for the FDOT Draft Work Program. The funding has been included in the FY23 budget for design improvements on the corridor. The funding will be reimbursed through the FDOT LAP Program. The initiative was added to the budget and approved as part of the budget process.
